POLAND: Parliament Debates Government's Response To Floods

POLAND
  • Parliament will debate the government's response to the devastating flooding after the cabinet adopted measures to facilitate the disbursement of aid to victims. During its regular weekly meeting, the government also agreed to hold an extra meeting on Saturday to discuss potential adjustments to the 2025 budget due the costs of damage inflicted by the floods. The draft spending plan has to be submitted to parliament by the end of this month. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the government will mobilise PLN23bn for various aid measures, the bulk of which will come from the reallocation of EU funds.
  • Onet reports that the Polish People's Party (PSL) is pushing for the redrawing of electoral district boundaries amid repeated calls from the National Electoral Commission (PKW) over the past decade, stressing the need to account for demographic changes. PM Tusk's Civic Coalition is reportedly sceptical of the changes proposed by PSL amid divergent opinions about the details.
  • The Finance Ministry is planning to sell PLN6bn-10bn worth of OK0127, PS0729, WZ0330, DS0432, DS1034 and IZ0836 bonds at today's auction. The auction size was adjusted from PLN5bn-10bn in the preliminary monthly issuance schedule.
