POWER

Polish Tauron is mulling a 120MW gas cogeneration unit at the Lagisza power plant, while cancelling plans for a 400MW larger gas-steam unit due to profitability concerns, it said today.

  • Additionally, the company is also exploring 200-600MW gas peak units at existing coal power plant sites, including Lagisza, to stabilise the network amidst rising renewable energy capacity.
  • The high-efficiency 120MW gas unit will be adapted for zero-emission fuels, with an emission factor below 270 kg CO₂ per MWh.
