Polish Wind Could Reach 41GW by 2040 Amid Wind Act Change

Polish wind association PWEA has estimated that the governments planned amendment in its wind act could lead to around 41.4GW of onshore wind capacity by 2040, it said.

  • The planned change would decrease the minimum distance of wind farms to 500m from 700m.
  • The planned date of implementation is set for 3Q24.
  • The association also proposes unifying the planning process, regulatory improvement to make at least 10% of wind farm capacity available to residents and complete abolition of the 10h Rule – which sets the minimum distance for wind farms.
