Portugal to Launch Details on Offshore Wind Policy in July
POWER
Portugal’s new government plans to announce some details on its new offshore wind policy in July as it is committed to developing the technology, promoting PV and “repowering” offshore wind farms, the government said, cited by XM.
- The previous administration set the capacity for the first offshore wind auction at 2GW. The new government has not confirmed the capacity or auction date.
- Several other utilities have shown potential interest in the auction: Germany's BayWa, Irish-Spanish consortium IberBlue Wind, fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, and a joint venture between Portugal's Galp and France's TotalEnergies.
