Possible Plan To Capture Kyiv Became Known: Ukrainian Pravda

UKRAINE

Ukrainian Pravda reports that the special services have intercepted Russian plans of taking control over Kyiv, citing a Ukrainian counterintelligence source. The article provides further details in addition to the headlines circulated by NEXTA and flagged earlier.

  • The Russian military are reportedly planning to deploy 2,000 special forces to capture the airport before bringing in additional 10,000 to seize the capital. According to Pravda's source, sabotage groups would disrupt the operation of power grids and telecommunications as well as stage arsons and looting to sow panic among city residents, while cyber warriors would take down vital websites. The aim of the operation is capturing Ukraine's authorities, keeping them hostage until until the arrival of more Russian troops and forcing them "to sign a peace agreement on Russian terms under blackmail and the possibility of the death of large numbers of civilians." Pravda notes that "the date of the operation is unknown" but "it is expected in the coming days, depending on the weather, the development of the political situation in the world and the negotiation process." The report also raises the possibility of splitting Ukraine into two parts, if the legitimate authorities are evacuated.
