  • Q: What did the Fed do in the wake of the SVB presentation in February re interest rate risks, and do you think mon pol and supervision can be handled with different tools?
  • A: It was a general presentation about interest rate risks in the banks. And there was one page on SVB; but wasn't presented as an urgent or alarming situation. They are pointing out something and they are on the case.
  • The separation principle is very useful, but ultimately has its limits. In this case mon pol tools and fin stab tools are not in conflict (bank lending facilities, etc).
