POWER: EU to Miss 2030 PV Capacity Target: McKinsey

Europe is not on track to meet its solar 2030 PV capacity target of 600GW, with less than 390GW of projects planned to be online by the end of the decade, according to a report by McKinsey.

  • Additionally, less than 20% of the 114GW of additional capacity that is planned to go online by 2029 has reached FID.
  • And of the declared 124GW of EU offshore wind capacity – around 65% is still pending FID.
  • However, offshore wind is only missing 18GW to meet its overall 2030 target of 176GW.
