POWER: UK Network Operators Abolish 10GW of “Zombie” Projects

POWER

UK power network operators have cut 10GW of stalled “zombie” energy projects in a bid to increase the connection process, figures from Energy Networks Association show.

  • However, there is still around 252GW of more generation units in the queue than required to meet the UK’s 2050 Net Zero goals, the association added.

  • For delayed projects, network companies discuss reasons and assist in progression.
  • Stalled projects are removed from the queue and contracts are terminated.
