President Biden's Approval Rating Continues To Slide

US

US President Joe Biden's approval rating has continued to slide, reflecting that Biden administration's messaging on the economy is failing to resonate with voters.

  • According to RealClearPolitics, Biden's current approval rating of 41% is his lowest since August 2022.
  • A recent Harvard University/Harris poll found that only 29% of voters believe the economy is "on the right track," and 62% of voters believe the economy is "weak."
  • The same poll found that GOP approval rose from 48% to 54% from March to June, during the standoff with the White House over suspending the debt ceiling.
  • Yahoo Finance: "Voters' negative views of the country's (and their own) economic prospects present an immediate challenge to Biden's effort to secure a second term. His cellar-level numbers also haven't been moving in spite of an actual economy that has been defying expectations and producing positive headlines for months now."
  • Jim Kessler, at thinktank Third Way said: "Inflation is a mood changer," but added "through the summer and into the fall, when presidents have a successful reelection, this is usually when they start turning it around."
