President Biden To Deliver Remarks At Political Event Shortly

President Biden is shortly due to deliver remarks at the Mother Emanuel AME Church - the site of a mass shooting in 2015 which targeted by Black worshippers - in Charleston, South Carolina, his second speech in three days warning that former President Donald Trump and his ‘MAGA’ movement pose an existential threat to US democracy. • Biden's principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks told reporters: “...whether it is white supremacists descending on a historic American city of Charlottesville, the assault on our nation’s capital on Jan. 6, or white supremacists murdering churchgoers at Mother Emanuel nearly nine years ago, America is worried about the rise in political violence and determined to stand against it.”
• In Valley Forge, Pennsylvania on Friday, Biden called Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021, “among the worst derelictions of duty by a president in American history: an attempt to overturn a free and fair election by force and violence.”
• Biden, seeking to frame the 2024 presidential election as a binary choice between democracy and authoritarianism, said: “[Trump's] willing to sacrifice our democracy, put himself in power.”
• After spending much of the first portion of his term avoiding directly addressing Trump by name, Biden pivoting to a full throated attack: “...because of Donald Trump’s lies, [people] died because these lies brought a mob to Washington.”
• Biden: “Trump’s mob wasn’t a peaceful protest. It was a violent assault. They were insurrectionists, not patriots. They weren’t there to uphold the Constitution; they were there to destroy the Constitution.”
