President Lula Downplays Concerns About Dispute With Congress

O Globo report that Finance Minister Haddad has reached a consensus to limit the benefit to BRL 15bn until 2026. Haddad is also reported to have reached an agreement with Lula on the text to regulate tax reform.
  • To recap, it was reported yesterday that the government is trying to push back on plans in Congress to hold votes this week that could cost the government as much as BRL 96.3bn in the period 2024-2026. Lula’s comments suggest that some progress has been made.
