President Petro Strives To Ease Pressure On Water Supply

  • In the latest efforts to save water amidst an ongoing drought, President Petro is reported to have asked residents of Bogota to leave the city over the weekend to reduce pressure on the water supply. He also announced a civic day throughout the country in an effort to save water. The mayors of the largest cities have ignored this, however, ordering public officials to work as normal on Friday.
  • To recap, reservoir levels are reported to be around 29% of total capacity, close to a critical 27% threshold that could impact power supply. Natural gas imports are said to have risen 62% m/m in March, as electricity production through thermal plants increases.
  • Meanwhile, February trade balance and import data will be released later today, at around 1600BST.
