DOLLAR-CANADA: Press suggestions that the Trump administration could allow for a
temporary 30-day Tariff exemption for Mexico and Canada on steel and aluminium
imports allowed Usd/Cad to drop from C$1.2923, through its NY low of C$1.2890 to
C$1.2868. Again thin conditions in Asia led to a perceived overshoot as rate
recovered to hold back around C$1.2890 into Europe. Rate had seen a sharp
recovery Wednesday on BOC no change which allowed for a retest of recent highs
of C$1.3001(Mar5) before momentum was lost and rate drifted back. Traders have
suggested that if rate cannot make progress above C$1.3000 in next few session
they expect to see some paring back of longs. A break and build above C$1.3000
to open a move on toward C$1.3080-1.3119. Support seen into C$1.2860/50.
