Proposed amendments to the Withdrawal............>

UK
UK: Proposed amendments to the Withdrawal Agreement Bill coming through, with
former Conservative MP Nick Boles' one having a strong chance of being approved.
- This would change the nature of end of the transition period, with the UK
defaulting to extend this period unless MPs say to conclude it at end-2020. This
is in contrast to the WAB's current provisions where MPs can extend the period
if there is a majority vote but the default is to leave the transtion period at
end-2020.
- An amendment seeking a customs union with the EU as an objective of the
transition period has also been tabled. Less clear whether this will get through
with support of DUP, Labour Leavers and Conservative Remainers on board. Will be
a close vote.
