Putin: 'All Decisions On Mobilisation To Be Fulfilled'; Bombs Hit Kyiv

UKRAINE

Wires carrying comments from Russian President Vladimir Putin stating that 'all decisions on mobilisation are to be fulfilled' as Moscow launches a huge bombing raid on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

  • The Ukrainian military chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated that at least 75 missiles have been launched towards Kyiv, with 41 of those intercepted by Ukrainian defences. There are also reports that Russia has used Iranian-built 'kamikaze drones' to bomb the capital city.
  • Also reports this morning of a thermal power plant in the far-western Ukrainian city of Lviv being hit, which is likely to cause significant concern in Ukraine.
  • The far west of the country has been largely spared violence since the initial outbreak of the war. Hitting targets beyond the regions of intense conflict in the Donbas and south of the country represents the war potentially entering a new phase. Follows the bombing of a crucial link bridge between Russia and Crimea at the weekend (see 0904BST bullet).
