Putin, Lukashenko to Chair State Council Meeting; Lavrov Begins Visit to Turkey

  • President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko will chair a Russia-Belarus State Council meeting today. The meeting is expected to yield decisions on practical aspects of further integration cooperation, Russian news agency Tass say.
  • Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov begins a two-day visit to Turkey today. Tass say he is expected to hold talks on a wide range of issues, including energy matters, the situation in Ukraine, the implementation of the grain deal, as well as measures to normalize the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and in Ankara’s dialogue with Damascus.
  • Budget proceeds from oil and gas dropped 43% to RUB 688.2bln ($8.67bln) last month, the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday. Tax revenues from crude oil and petroleum products accounted for 80% of total fossil fuel revenue in March, according to Bloomberg calculations.
