Putin Say's 'Impossible' for Some European Nations to Shun Russian Oil

Russian President Vladimir Putin said it was impossible for some European countries which are heavily reliant on Russian energy, to completely shun Russian oil. Putin made the remarks during a televised meeting with domestic oil managers and government officials.

  • Putin also said that western sanctions and a possible embargo on Russian oil was forcing global energy prices higher.
  • Hungary is currently holding up the EU ban on Russian oil as they seek an exemption, something the EU has been unwilling to do, instead looking for a united response and offering a phased reduction for more dependent nations.
