Putin Signs New Military Doctrine, Vows to Defend Sovereignty

  • The WSJ confirms that grain shipments have left southern Ukraine ports for the first time since the Russian invasion in February, with the Razoni carrying 26,000 metric tons of corn, headed to Lebanon.
  • Gazprombank have commented that more Russian firms may join Rusal after the company began selling CNY-denominated bonds in local Russian markets. The sale last week yielded 3.94%, and saw demand more than double the offer size.
  • In a presentation of the armed force’s strength, Putin disclosed that the Navy would soon be armed with Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles. The President also signed a new military doctrine to defend Russia’s sovereignty.
  • PMI data released this morning saw July PMI slow to 50.3 from 50.9 in June. The new orders component was a particular source of strength, rising to a new multi-year high of 51.8.
  • Putin today holds a videoconference call with Manturov, the deputy PM and representatives of metals industry.
