Qatar PM: Hamas Response To Ceasefire Proposal, "In General Positive"

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, speaking at a press conference in Doha alongside US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, has told reporters that Qatar, "has received a reply from Hamas" on the ceasefire/hostage exchange proposal framework negotiated in Paris last week.

  • Al Thani says the reply "includes some comments," but "in general it is positive."
  • Al Thani says: "First I would like to inform the media that we have received a reply from Hamas with regards to the general framework of the agreement with regard to hostages. The reply includes some comments but in general it is positive."
  • Al Thani warns: “However, given the sensitivity of the circumstances, we will not tackle the details. We are optimistic, and we have delivered the response to the Israeli party.”
  • Blinken says: "There is still a lot of work to be done but we continue to believe an agreement is possible and indeed essential."
