QatarEnergy Inks Third Long-Term LNG Deal This Month

Eni signed a deal with QatarEnergy to buy LNG for the duration of 27 years according to ENI.

  • The delivery of 1.5bcm/yr of LNG is scheduled to begin in 2026. The LNG will be delivered to Italy’s Piombino floating import terminal.
  • This marks the third major contract this month between QatarEnergy and a European firm. The firm had previously signed a deal with TotalEnergies and Shell this month.
  • Qatar aims to increase its LNG production capacity by 64% by 2027 with the expansion of the North Field East project that will add 32mtp, and the extension of the North Field South that will bring 16mpta, once operational.
