QatarEnergy Looking to Sell Stake in Italy’s Adriatic LNG

LNG

QatarEnergy is looking to sell its stake in Italy’s Adriatic LNG import terminal according to Energy Intelligence sources despite receiving record volumes.

  • This follows on from the majority partner Exxon Mobil confirming in March intention to sell its 70.7% stake. Italian TSO Snam holds the remaining 7.3% in the terminal.
  • A record 5.94m tons of LNG were imported at the terminal last year, according to Kpler data. Utilisation is expected to remain strong with Europe dependent on LNG since the reduction in Russian pipeline supplies.
  • Adriatic LNG regasification capacity was increased to 9bcm last year and able to meet around 12% of Italy’s annual gas demand.
  • Edison has booked 72% of the capacity until 2034, with a 25 year deal for 4.6mtpa with Qatargas. The remaining capacity is allocated until December 2028 according to Adriatic LNG.
