QatarEnergy, Shell Signed 27-Year LNG Supply Deal

Shell has signed a supply deal for the Netherlands with QatarEnergy to buy 3.5mtpa of LNG from 2026 for the duration of 27 years, according to the Qatari company, cited by Bloomberg.

  • QatarEnergy will supply LNG to the Rotterdam Gate Import terminal for 27 years under two deals.
  • Qatar is still searching for buyers for around two-thirds of its planned capacity expansions, analysts said this week. The country aims to increase its LNG production capacity by 64% by 2027 with the expansion of the North Field East that will add 32mtpa, while the extension of the North Field South will bring 16mtpa once operational.
