Quebec Plans To Lift Most Pandemic Restrictions By Mid-March

  • CBC and CTV report that Quebec is moving to lift most pandemic restrictions by mid-March, with some measures starting this Saturday.
  • Bars will be allowed to reopen, organized sports can resume, and there will soon be no limits on capacity for venues, Quebec Premier François Legault announced Tuesday.
  • This follows in the steps of Ontario which started lifted restrictions at the end of January, and now leaves the two largest provinces on a path to easier restrictions.
  • The reaction in Canadian government bond yields was limited with the short-end rallying 0.5bps as it continues to outperform US Treasuries today.
