Question From MNI's Jean Yung On Fed's View On Elevated Yields

FED
  • Q (from MNI's Jean Yung): What's the Fed's view on why Treasury yields have risen to multiyear highs in recent weeks?
    • A: You're right, rates have moved up significantly, it's hard to say precisely. But it's not mostly about inflation expectations, it's mostly about other things, either term premium or real yields. Everyone has got models, but they give you different answers.
    • Essentially they're moving up, not because of inflation, it's because probably it has something to do with stronger growth, more Treasury supply.
