Ramaphosa Reiterates Primary Task To Significantly Reduce Load Shedding

  • South African President Cyril Ramaphosa appoints Kgosientsho Ramokgopa as minister in presidency responsible for resolving nation’s electricity crisis, according to statement broadcast on state television.
    • “The primary task of the minister will be to significantly reduce the severity & frequency of load shedding as a matter of urgency,” Ramaphosa says, using the local term for power outages.
  • Other appointments include:
    • Patricia de Lille replaces Lindiwe Sisulu as minister of tourism.
    • Sindisiwe Chikunga - Transport Minister
    • Thembi Nkadimeng - COGTA Minister
