  • National Union of Mineworkers marches to Luthuli House calling on Govt to stop the unbundling of Eskom as they believe it is a precursor to privatisation.
    • Comes amid a number of deals with SOEs and equity partners that seem to be moving towards privatisation as govt can no longer afford to sustain them in their inefficient state (SAA, Denel, Transnet are a few names).
    • NUM says the vertically integrated structure of Eskom is still relevant, and that unilateral actions of Eskom are a "declaration of war against union members
  • SA Communist Party (SACP) calls for a universal income grant for the unemployed following SA's record unemployment print at 34.4%.
    • Says this should serve as a wake-up call to Govt which continues to pursue austerity measures
