RBA
RBA: RBA Deputy Gov. Debelle participated in a Q&A session following his speech,
with BBG covering the comments.
- Debelle reiterated that the "RBA is paying close attention to falling house
prices," stressing that the "drag on the economy from lower house prices is
still somewhat unclear." This was reflected in the language used in the RBA's
October MonPol meeting minutes released yesterday.
- On the AUD Debelle noted that the "lower A$ is probably giving the Australian
economy a bit of boost," although he stressed the support from the lower
currency is "not huge," going on to suggest that it would be "helpful for our
economy if the fed rate pushes the A$ lower."
