AUSSIE
AUSSIE: RBA Governor Lowe's comments have turned AUD sour. In the concluding
paragraphs of his speech, Lowe said that the central bank "is prepared to
provide additional support by easing monetary policy further" if needed, while
in any case "it is reasonable to exp. an extended period of low interest rates."
- AUD/USD trades 9 pips lower at $0.6968. Support at $0.6959, the 50-DMA,
remains intact. A break would open the 61.8% retracement of the YtD range at
$0.6953.
- AUD/NZD sits at NZ$1.0401, 4 pips worse off, struggling to violate the round
figure. A break here would expose the Jul 22 multi-month low & trendline
support, both at NZ$1.0386.
- AUD/JPY last seen at Y75.35, 13 pips lower on the day. The 50-DMA at Y75.46
had to give way, opening the lower 1.0% 10-DMA envelope, which kicks in right at
the psychological Y75.00 figure.
