US VIEW: RBC economists Tom Porcelli and Jacob Oubina opine on US Pres. Trump's
Fed Chair contest. "Seemingly, there is a new headline about the race for Fed
chair every hour," they said. "Much of it has amounted to simply noise. Consider
the headlines this afternoon, first it was reported that Trump decided against
Gary Cohn and then it was later reported that the President has not ruled him
out. But there was another more interesting headline" from Fox Business News
"that caught our attention. Apparently, the President said he liked Yellen, but
that he would like to put his own stamp on the Fed." 
- They quipped "we are obviously all in the mode of hyper-analyzing this topic
so let's play the game. If we are reading between the lines on this (Trump)
comment, Fed Gov. Powell (seemingly a front-runner) would also 'not be making
your mark' on the Fed as he was appointed by Obama. By this logic, John Taylor
would seem to have the edge" in the Fed Chair contest, they said. - The Fox
Business TV's interview with Trump and Lou Dobbs was expected to run at 7pm ET.
