STOCKS: Regional equities have moved higher overnight, in the last trading
session of the quarter and Japanese fiscal year, with continued optimism
surrounding U.S.-China trade matters extending the bid that developed on Wall
St. on Thursday.
- Chinese stocks were supported by brokerage names receiving price target lifts
at UBS, with impending VAT cuts and business friendly cost savings also
supporting the space. This outweighed some warnings from the country's two
largest state-owned lenders re: bad loans, as their quarterly profit growth
slowed.
- Daiichi Sankyo garnered the most attention in Japan, going limit up after
AstraZeneca revealed that it had signed a collaboration deal worth up to $6.9bn
with the firm.
- Nikkei 225 +0.8%, Hang Seng +0.7%, CSI 300 +3.0%, ASX 200 +0.3%.
- U.S. equity index futures also moved higher.
- S&P 500 +7, DJIA +74, NASDAQ 100 +23.
