RENEWABLES: German Onshore Wind Tender Sees Record Demand

The latest German onshore wind tender from 1 August was oversubscribed with bids totalling 2.96GW for 2.71GW of offered capacity, marking a new record and the first oversubscribed tender since February 2022 according to Bnetza. 

  • German offered 2.709GW of onshore wind capacity in the last tender round, with 239 submitted bids for 2.961GW of capacity.
  • Bnetza awarded 230 bids for a total of 2.723GW at an average achieved price of 7.33ct/kWh, just below the average price of the previous round of 7.35ct/kWh.
  • Bnetza previously lowered the offered capacity to 2.7GW from 4.1GW initially planned due to anticipated lower demand.
  • In the previous round from 1 May, Germany offered 2.795GW of capacity and received 197 offers for a combined capacity of 2.485GW. Bnetza awarded 189 bids for a total of 2.379GW.
