RENEWABLES: German Wind Output Plunges to Over Eight-Year Low

German wind output on Wednesday has fallen to as low as 46MW as of the time of writing, the lowest since 25 June 2016 according to EEX data.

  • Wind output averaged 397MW so far today as of 14:00GMT, well below the seasonal minimum.
  • German wind output averaged 7.44GW so far this month. Wind generation in the same period last year averaged 31.04GW, EEX data showed.
  • The latest Bloomberg ECMWF operational forecast suggested wind output is forecast to rise to an average of 1.81GW on Thursday. The previous operational forecast suggested hourly wind output will start rising from 16:00GMT on Wednesday.
  • In comparison, SpotRenewables sees German wind output averaging 1.099GW on Thursday.
