Republican Senators To Travel Home as Fiscal Aid Negotiations Deadlocked

US

MNI reporting from Senate building... The Senate is taking its final vote of the week on an unrelated matter before traveling home to their districts. Senators are expected to be back next week, but GOP Senators are skeptical there will be a deal on the next coronavirus bill.

  • Mnuchin and Meadows did not attend a Republican policy lunch that has been used as a setting to discuss fiscal negotiations.
  • Senator Mike Rounds when asked if he was optimistic there would be a deal soon said, "Nope."
  • Senator John Kennedy said he believes Trump should act unilaterally if Congress can't do its job. Trump earlier on Thursday said he may sign an executive order on Friday on unemployment benefits.
