Republicans Should Have Senators For SCOTUS Nomination: Fox

US PRESS

Fox News's Congressional reporter Chad Pergram tweets a thread on why he thinks Senate Republicans now have the numbers to get a nominee for the Supreme Court through:

  • "We may not know President Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court. But what we know is that the Senate appears to have the votes to forge ahead with any nominee."
  • "With Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) signaling a green light to forge ahead, GOPers have at least 50 votes to move ahead and potentially confirm a Supreme Court justice. In the past 16 hours, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Cory Gardner (R-CO) and now Romney are good with going ahead."
  • "Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) gave herself a little bit of wiggle room in her statement. But it looks like Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) are the only ones who oppose forging ahead."
  • "So, the Senate GOPers likely have 51 yeas. Even if it drops to 50, Vice President Pence could break the tie."
