Restart Of Olkiluoto 3 Reactor Delayed To End Dec

The restart of Finland’s Olkiluoto 3 nuclear reactor has been delayed to 25 Dec, according to TVO.

  • The outage of the 1.6GW OL3 reactor has been delayed to 25 Dec the earliest, from 11 Dec previously scheduled.
  • Finland’s energy authority warned earlier this month that the risk of power outages this winter has increased amid expected reactor restart delays.
  • Sweden is expected to import power from Poland, Germany and Norway next week, because of a planned outage at the Finnish-Swedish transmission network from 9-18 Dec, Nordpool remit data show. Cold weather and an outage at Sweden’s biggest nuclear reactor Oskarshamn-3 until Dec 18 are adding pressure to the grid.
  • Sweden has already been a net power importer from Norway this month. Scheduled day-ahead commercial net imports from Norway averaged 2.19GW so far this month, entso-e data show.
