Reuters, Bloomberg and WSJ Excluded from OPEC Seminar in July

Reuters, Bloomberg and the WSJ have been withheld media access from a seminar event being hosted by OPEC July 5-6.

  • This follows them being withheld access at the latest policy meeting and sets the precedence this may be a more long-term decision by OPEC.
  • Argus, Platts and the FT are understood to still be allowed to cover OPEC events.
  • OPEC has not released an official statement about the decision to deny certain media outlets but the de facto leader of the group, Saudi Arabia has repeatedly complained about media coverage of OPEC in the past and speculation about its decision making in the run up to events.
