Ringgit Tad Firmer Ahead Of CPI Data

Spot USD/MYR has shed 42 pips so far after hitting multi-week highs on Thursday. The rate last changes hands at MYR4.2215, with bears looking for further sales towards Mar 17 low of MYR4.1823. Bulls keep an eye on yesterday's/Dec 15 highs of MYR4.2373/87 and a break here would expose Nov 26 high of MYR4.2490.

  • Fully vaccinated travellers will be able to move between Malaysia and Singapore by land without any testing or quarantine from the beginning of next month. In addition, Malaysia and Thailand have struck a deal to re-open two land border gates from April 1.
  • Malaysia's Department of Statistics will publish February CPI data today. Headline inflation is expected to have accelerated to +2.4% Y/Y from +2.3% recorded in January.
