STOCKS: Risk assets benefitted from the latest round of optimism re: Sino-U.S.
trade matters via FT sources, although the caveated nature of the story was a
little more guarded than the headline, which limited the uptick in equities.
- As a result, the CSI 300 and Shanghai Composite couldn't breach their
respective psychological resistance levels of 3,200 and 4,000. Goldman Sachs
still expects the CSI 300 to add another 25% to the recent stellar rally over
the next 12 months.
- Nikkei 225 +0.8%, Hang Seng +0.7%, CSI 300 unch., ASX 200 +0.6%.
- U.S. equity index futures also moved higher.
- S&P 500 +12, DJIA +85, NASDAQ 100 +41.
