RUSSIA: EU Envoys to Weigh Russian Sanctions Extension

  • Bloomberg report that the US and UK are increasingly concerned that Russia is sharing with Iran secret information and technology that could bring it closer to being able to build nuclear weapons, in exchange for Tehran providing Moscow with ballistic missiles for its war in Ukraine. It adds that the Kremlin has increased its cooperation with Iran over its ambitions to obtain atomic weapons in recent months, according to Western officials familiar with the matter.
  • There are no major economic releases scheduled for today. PPI data for August is on the docket Wednesday. The IMF will resume consultations with Russian authorities as part of an annual economic review, while the Russian Navy completes its largest drill in 30 years.
