Russia's Transneft-Ukraine Confirms Payment To Resume Druzhba Oil Flows

Russia's state-run RIA reporting that pipeline operator Transneft has stated that Ukraine's pipeline operator has confirmed it has received payment for Russian oil transited via the southern leg of the Druzhba pipeline.

  • Oil supplies to Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic previously halted due to the payment issue have been resumed in recent days.
  • While this halt was due to a banking issue relating to sanctions, there remains the prospect of Russia halting or cutting back on oil flows over the coming months in a similar fashion to the reduction in gas flows through the NS 1 pipeline into Germany.
