Russia, Turkey Agree Plan To Open Sea Corridor For Ukrainian Grain From Odesa: Izvestia

RUSSIA

Russia, Ukraine and Turkey reached agreement over a preliminary scheme to ship Ukrainian grain from the Odesa seaport, Russian daily Izvestia reports citing a senior, well informed source.

  • According to the plan, the Turkish military will be responsible for demining areas off the coast of Odesa. Turkish vessels will escort Ukrainian ships carrying grain to neutral waters of the Black Sea. There, they will be met by Russian warships, which will escort Ukrainian ships to the Bosphorus.
  • The source told Izvestia that the plan has been agreed only for Odesa and the details, such as the exact route of the ships, are still being discussed. Russia and Turkey are reportedly preparing to seal the deal during Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov's visit to Ankara later this week.
