Russian Diesel Exports from Western Ports to Increase in June

DIESEL

Russian diesel loadings from the Black and Baltic Sea ports are expected to increase by nearly 31% in June to 2.12m tons (or 527kbpd) compared to 1.67m tons in May according to Bloomberg.

  • The increase comes as some refineries are likely to resume full operations after spring maintenance.
  • Russian refiners could bring back their primary crude-processing units as well as hydro-treatment and hydrocracking units and exports could be encouraged by an expected curb of subsidies for the domestic market according to independent oil-products analyst Mikhail Turukalov.
  • A rebound in diesel flows from Belarus suggesting refinery maintenance is near completion is adding to the planned export increase.
  • Planned exports, in millions of tons:
    • from Primorsk: 1.422 in June vs 1.081 in May
    • from Vysotsk: 0.223 vs 0.227
    • from Novorossiysk: 0.474 vs 0.364
