Russian Oil Product Inventories Near Capacity: Kpler

OIL

In its base case scenario, Kpler expects Russian refinery runs to have dropped by about 300 kbd to pre-export ban forecasts for inventories not to exceed capacity before October 9.

  • Kpler estimates that Russia has ~6-7 million tons of oil product storage capacity, with only 1.65 Mbd of spare capacity as of 20 September.
  • Kpler places the Russian gasoline diesel surplus at about 70-75 kt/d even in a scenario where Russian refineries substantially reduce diesel yields, causing inventories to reach full capacity before mid-October.
