Russia’s Weekly Gasoline & Diesel Output Falls: Rosstat

Russia’s weekly gasoline production fell for the third successive week in the seven days to May 19, according to Interfax, citing Rosstat.

  • Production of gasoline was 740.5 mt, a weekly decline of 2.5%, Rosstat data showed.
  • This represents the smallest weekly output since the week ending Oct. 15, 2023.
  • Compared to the same period in 2023, weekly gasoline production is down by 5.3% on the year.
  • Production of diesel over the week to May 19 was 1.558m mt, down 7.1% on the week
  • The Ministry of Energy has attributed the fall in output to planned maintenance at domestic refineries and sufficient storage levels.
  • The temporary relaxation of Russia’s gasoline export ban is expected to stimulate production, given that the domestic market is largely saturated.
