RWE Eyes 1.5GW German Offshore Wind Project

German energy firm RWE will build two new offshore wind farms, with a combined capacity of 1.56GW, off the German coast in the North Sea, the firm said today.

  • The 660MW Nordseecluster A wind farm will start construction in 2025, with full commissioning in 2027.
  • The 900MW Nordseecluster B will start construction in 2027, with full commissioning in 2029.
  • The units will produce around 6.5 TWh/yr once fully commissioned.
  • RWE is targeting 10GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, up from 3.3GW currently.
