Sabine Pass LNG Maintenance Limiting US Terminal Feedgas Flows

NATGAS

Natural gas delivery flows to the US LNG export terminals are still curtailed due to maintenance at the Sabine Pass LNG export terminal. Pipeline flows are today estimated at 11.0bcf/d compared to an average of 13bcf/d seen during May according to Bloomberg.

  • Planned major maintenance at Cheniere's Sabine Pass LNG terminal is part of a six-year maintenance cycle at the facility but no details have been given as to the expected duration of the maintenance activities.
  • The maintenance activities entail two of the six liquefaction trains coming down basically at the same time. Each train has an LNG production capacity of about 5m mt/year.
  • Planned compressor maintenance on the Creole Trail pipeline feeding Sabine Pass is also taking place in June coinciding with the plant maintenance. Maintenance on the Gillis compressor station feeding the terminal was completed on 15 June.
  • Freeport LNG also saw a drop in feedgas last week due to an apparent operational issue but has mostly recovered this week.
  • US Henry Hub prices have been supported by warm weather and low production so far this month and the return of the missing LNG export flows could add further upside pressure to the market.
    • US Natgas JUL 23 up 1.7% at 2.68$/mmbtu
