Russia’s Saratov oil refinery has suspended operations for safety reasons after attacks, and key units have not been damaged, according to industry sources cited by Reuters. 

  • This follows earlier reports that the oil refinery had been damaged by a Ukrainian drone attack overnight.
  • Fires were reported at the facility, though regional officials later said that they had been extinguished.
  • The Saratov refinery processed 115k b/d in the first nine months of 2024 and 101k b/d across 2023, according to Reuters. It produces motor fuels, vacuum gasoil, fuel oil and bitumen.
  • The refinery has been the target of Ukrainian drone attacks on multiple occasions, most recently in mid-January.
