Saudi Increase Diesel Imports from Russia While Increasing Supply to EU

DIESEL

Saudi Arabia has increased imports of Russian diesel after Europe halted the imports while simultaneously sending its own supplies back to buyers in the EU according to Bloomberg

  • Saudi Arabia imports of Russian diesel and gasoil have risen up to 174kbpd in April and almost 200kbpd in May according to Kpler data. In the same period Saudi Arabia has replaced Russia as the main supplier to Europe.
  • Flows to Europe come from domestic refinery output and not redirected fuel imported from Russia according to Bloomberg sources. The exports come from different parts of the country, were made to different specifications and often subject to long-term supply commitments.
  • Approximately 35% of the overall diesel and gasoil exports in April were shipped to the EU and the UK with Saudi the second-biggest global exporter ahead of the US.
