SCOPA To Ask Gordhan & Mufamadi To Comment On Eskom, S. Africa Observes Holidays

  • The National's Assembly Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) said it will summon Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, President Cyril Ramaphosa's Security Adviser Sydney Mufamadi and the Eskom Board next Wednesday to respond to corruption allegations made by former Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter. The former Eskom chief appeared before the committee yesterday but refused to name the senior Cabinet minister allegedly involved in corruption within the utility, albeit he said that he informed the Public Enterprises Minister and law enforcement agencies about all relevant details.
  • South African markets are shut for the Freedom Day today. Looking further afield, the nation is set to observe the Workers' Day on Monday.
