Scottish, Welsh Leaders Call On PM For 'Four Nations' Approach To Omicron

The first ministers of Scotland and Wales have published a joint letter written to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson arguing the case for an emergency COBR meeting to be held as soon as possible in order to formulate a 'four nations' approach to dealing with a potential outbreak of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

  • Letter advocates for greater testing of new arrivals to the UK, adding a day 8 test to the day 2 test.
  • Also call for Treasury funding for devolved business support schemes in the event that 'more interventionist measures' i.e. lockdowns/business closures, are re-implemented.
